Pro-Natura was in search of a partner that could help them design and develop a digital tool that will support their successfully established sustainable development model: the Shared Value Platform (SVP).

The model, implemented in several communities within the Amazon Rainforest, needed technological scalability. MJV was hired to ideate the solution, which it did completely free of charge.

BOOK A CALL

The Challenge

Understand the context of the production chain and format what the technological solution would be to connect the end-to-end extractive chain.

The aim was to contribute to the quality of life of producers while increasing production earnings and maximizing sustainability. As well as give visibility to the various players in the açaí value chain.

The Challenge

Discovering the Needs of Amazonian Communities

When a final product is going to be used by only a select group of people, the thoughts, opinions, and needs of those individuals should have a significant impact on the development of that solution.

MJV conducted an extensive immersion phase in order to properly understand all aspects of the challenge and what kind of solution would most benefit the final user.

Fly or Die:

Validating a New Revenue Model Through Testing-as-a-Service

A solution is only as good as what you can prove, and MJV did this through a testing-as-a-service framework.

While our client ran the stores (both digital & physical), we took it upon ourselves to craft, test, and validate the strategy to determine if it should be implemented nationwide.

Why Acai?

Simplifying supply chain management

MJV provided Pro-Natura with an app experience blueprint, containing the app’s value proposition, as well as feature prioritization for a minimum viable product.

We also provided our client with a complex document detailing the process, steps, and suggestions for prototyping and implementation of the MVP to be tested in the field before being adopted by local harvesting communities.

If you’re looking to modernize your supply chain, integrate AI technology into your offerings, or are just looking for some help with finding new innovation opportunities, MJV has got your back.

We’ve helped countless clients with extremely technical challenges, and we can help you too. Reach out to one of our consultants and find out what MJV can do for you!

How Your Company Can Take Advantage of B2B2C

You may know acaí as a superfood, but the importance of the fruit for Amazonian communities goes much further: it is directly linked to subsistence. Last year, the acai value chain generated roughly US$ 600 million for Brazil.

While this has given acai the title of “purple gold” within the country, the harvesters who extract this produce from natural plantations within the Amazon Rainforest earn the lowest percentage of the value chain’s total revenue.

After the immersion phase, we realized that the opportunities for positive impact went beyond simply advancing their production chain technologically. The Smart Amazon project could help local harvesters with budgeting, accounting, and domestic finance challenges.

Our Solution

Our Solution

The solution decided upon was an app. By using the app to track acai collection, transportation, and processing, users would have complete supply chain visibility.

MJV also provided Pro-Natura with an app experience blueprint, containing the app’s value proposition, as well as feature prioritization for a minimum viable product.

The blueprint was followed by a complex document detailing the process, steps, and suggestions for prototyping and implementation of the MVP to be tested before being adopted by local harvesting communities. Take a look at some of the guidelines:

Final Thoughts:

Global supply chain visibility is the key to simplify

The reason that MJV touts Design Thinking as such a useful framework for innovation is its ability to find hidden opportunities within challenges. We formatted a technological solution to connect the various actors in the acai extractive chain from end-to-end, giving visibility to each of them on their issues of interest through features designed based on research findings.

Simply providing visibility for the acai supply chain would have been enough to satisfy the requirements for a solution, but true innovation lies beyond expected outcomes and pushes us to find solutions that not only fulfill requirements but provide opportunities for effecting positive change.
